Residential Area

&hearts Diagon Alley is more than just a business district. In recent years there have been several blocks of apartments that have opened up for rent. These flats range in price from a few sickles a month, to a handful of galleons a week. Each individual flat has a fireplace that connects to the Local, National and International Floo System, though rates for International Floo calls are expensive, and any International Floo Travel must be pre-approved by the Ministry, and have proper paperwork. Each apartment building is home to a unique variety of tenants, and some buildings are older and quirkier than others. They all have one thing in common though: landlords who insist upon being paid on the first of every month.

&hearts While each flat has a set number of rooms, the buildings themselves are Wizard Spaced, so each flat can have a different floorplan, as long as it adheres to the room standards. Clever witches and wizards can even rearrange their rooms, though some landlords have strict refurbishing rules (aka, they want to Approve Everything).

&hearts In addition to apartment buildings, several of Diagon Alley's businesses have flats to let above or below the shops. These flats are owned by the business and rent is paid to them. These flats also have a connected fireplace, and the floorplans vary.

&hearts Comment to this post with the building name and flat number you'd like your character to rent, and if they have a roommate or would like one.

411 Shady Lane
411 Shady Lane is a small block of apartments, and houses some of the most affordable flats in Diagon Alley. It's within walking distance of Diagon's most popular destinations and quite close to the Primary school. Pets welcome.

The building is two levels with four flats on each level. Jasper Cunningham is the elderly landlord. Jasper and his cat Tallulah can often be found out in the garden in back, tending to flowers. Each flat has a balcony overlooking Diagon Alley (flats A & B) or the back garden (flats C & D). There is no lift. In the winter the pipes clank and the hot water spells come and go.
