Behind Charing Cross: Where Wizards Come to Play

It's 2003, the Wizarding World has come a long way since the Final Battle. Death Eaters have been tried and dealt with fairly under the watchful eye of the new Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt and a reformed Wizengamot. Diagon Alley and Hogwarts have been rebuilt. Slowly the magical community has rebuilt and healed from the destruction of Voldemort's reign.

Charing Cross is a game that explores the social and professional lives of our favorite Harry Potter Characters as they live their lives in this new rebuilt society. The main action takes place in and around Diagon Alley, which is much more than the one-street world we saw in canon. In the past five years Diagon Alley has become not only the Magical Center of London, but of all of Britain. New shops have opened, small cafes have been founded and residential buildings are quickly filling up, so claim your spot now!

The Game

Charing Cross is unique in terms of the RPGs we've seen. Instead of having no overall plot or a complicated long-running plot that almost never comes to fruition, Charing Cross likes to focus on character and world building. We do this by throwing out a game-wide plot once a month that the characters can then react to and go about their daily business. For example, in February we had a Masked Valentine's Day Ball which was the foundation for several character relationships in game. In March there was a Charms accident that had boys running around as girls and girls running around as boys for several weeks, and all the drama and awkward moments that accident created. And then there was the string of robberies, a Death Eater attack, the Quidditch World cup AND a new NIMBUS Model released!

In September a wild strain of Dragon Pox is going to hit the Wizarding World, and almost no one will be immune. Even Purebloods who suffered the indignity of green scales and itchy pox marks are going to have to suffer one more time. Also in September: a concert, a wish upon a star gone bad and much more. The game has just passed its six month anniverary and is still going strong. With new plots each month (and sometimes every week!) it's always in interesting adventure.

Our Players

Charing Cross has a small group of dedicated, talented and creative writers who are hopeful for new friends. We're looking for equally dedicated and creative writers who want to experience a slightly different RPG experience. The mods are friendly and easy-going and encourage player input into everything. We're looking for players who bring something slightly different to the table as well, with fresh, exciting characters. There are plenty of interactive experiences just waiting to happen, so give us a chance and we think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
